Imitating Life

Among the many things that cause me to smfh are the cries of the fans concerning that last minute interception their quarterback threw, again. Forced to choose between being sacked and losing or making a last ditch fling into a crowd that may win the game, I will take the “Fling for 50, Wink” every time. Blessed are those that do, well, something. This is not Hippocratic.

As humans, we seem to have little use for those incredibly evolved devices called forethought and memory. I seem to have spent my fifties waking up to some banalities (previously just inklings) that should have been obvious long ago. One of those wonders is the shifting balance of risk vs. reward, as time grows short.

We saw this drama play out in last weekend’s NFC Championship game between the Green Bay Packers, and the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks, at 3 quarters and 11 minutes, still losing by two touchdowns, started taking risks that only apply when time is short and your season is within 4 minutes of expiring. Fourth down passes, on side kicks and Hail Marys become beyond de rigueur to anything less than suicidal is a fail.

It made me long for Marvin Lewis’s Prevent Defense, a strategy familiar to any Friday night cheerleader, willing to give up anything, in order to prevent the score.

And it is this desperation of the midnight hour that is leaving me in a cold sweat.

BO recently delivered his sixth State of the Union. Forgive the man that he did not appear chastened, having just lost his lapdog Harry Reid, and failed to nick the House with the results of the last election. Bush bussed Pelosi in 2007 under a similar set of circumstances. One could even excuse the haughty up thrust chin evoking everyone’s favorite first Socialist, ole  “Freedom From Want,” FDR. Just sayin.

No, beyond the buoyant political barbs and the smarmy idolatry, lies a man with a plan.

At least part of the plan has been public for some time.

BO has made no secret of his desire to fundamentally transform America. He has doubled our debt, put political activists in charge of our healthcare, and used his Justice Department to criminalize the local police. (As of this writing, Wilson is rumored to be off the hook, Ferguson PD, not so much.)

Cloward Pivin’s strategy, to flood the social safety net with illegal immigrants, is well under way, and given California’s recent denouement of their drivers licensure requirements, that is, to issue a license and with it the right to vote, the future of elections in every state that follows suit will vote Democrat, forever.
And so it was that I watched the Pretender in Chief deliver his homily of freebies to the unmathed, or new mathed, that can’t conceptualize that taking from the next generation is not the same thing as “free.”

I really doubt that he can find a way to execute the orders to give away even more of other’s money, but as with Clinton, I am prepared to be amazed.

But the puzzle isn’t about the legislation currently secure with the new Congress, or the Executive Orders that will be issued.

The element that gives me pause, is watching this great country in the hands of a man who is devious and dishonest. A fraud who claims to be many things, that one has to be in a state of denial or part of the the conspiracy to accept. A great country, who in an attempt to right a wrong, to pay a debt that cannot be settled if not forgiven, or just to make things right, hurried the election of a man who used his race for political expedience, even though he has done little to relieve the suffering of the faithful.

That man has entered the fourth quarter of his game. Depending on his view of the goal line and his distance to it, one can only expect the plays to become more dangerous the closer we get to that end. Given that his playbook contains everything from Executive Orders to Nuclear War, (no body said it has to be our nukes, think Iran,) there is no end to the evil that can be unleashed on the world. Given that the end goal, (of any leftwing socialist/communist,) which according to Cloward Pivin, is an economic disruption and reordering, and for BO, who promised fundamental transformation, is in sight, I just wonder how far BO will go to see his obviously anti-individualistic un-American legacy fully inflicted.
